Visitor Information

The Mount Helena Resident & Ratepayers Association are pleased to welcome you to historic Mount Helena for this years Mount Helena Classic. Incorporating the Hills Billy Cart and Whim Festivals to bring you a full day of entertainment, we look forward to turning back time for some good old fashioned fun for the whole family.

Free entry to watch 75 Billy Carts of all shapes and sizes race down Evans Street and spend time wandering through and interacting with a large variety of local stalls at the Whim Festival in Pioneer Park. Whatever your tastes, this event is sure to keep the whole family entertained. With music all day, local business and community stalls, vintage cars to impress and multiple coffee vans, food vendors and even local wine tasting – make sure you bring your appetite.

There are various prizes to be won in our pop up photography competition as well as vouchers from roving judges for best dressed in our Turn Back Time theme (1920’s-1970’s).

No matter which way you come into Mount Helena, we will have volunteers in high-vis who will direct you to several parking spots within walking distance to the event. Once these spots fill up, just like the Royal Show, verge parking will do the trick.

The weather looks to be a sunny 30+ degree day, and this year we are proud to announce we are a plastic free event, so please remember to bring your reusable water bottles and keep cups and help us keep our little village plastic free.

Dogs on leash welcome, please bring your own doggy bags.

The Mount Helena Residents and Ratepayers Association are delighted to announce the return of last years’ much-loved Hills Billy Cart Festival on Sunday the 27th of October 2019. This event is set to be bigger and better than last year, under the auspices of the Mount Helena Classic and supported by the Whim Festival.

Established in 2009, this event, created by volunteers and driven by community spirit will be the same much-loved family day out as years gone by, however we are delighted to now be part of the bigger Mount Helena Classic.

The Whim connects locals and visitors to the region to explore and experience a showcase of local talent – music, businesses and organisations – we welcome you to come and soak in some good old fashioned fun.
